Mr Dung expressed his hope that former senior leaders would continue their valuable contributions to the Party’s revolutionary cause and the process of national construction and development. They remain forever bright examples for future generations to follow with their steadfast communist spirit and devotion to the homeland.

Last year, despite the global economic downturn and a series of natural disasters, under the clear-sighted leadership of the Party and the Government’s guidance, Vietnam still recorded notable achievements in maintaining economic growth and ensuring national security and social welfare, said Mr Dung.

The former senior leaders expressed their delight at the country’s achievements in building socialism and Vietnam’s rising status in the international arena. They vowed to continue contributing to national construction and development and hoped that Vietnam will reap greater achievements in the future.
