A Vietnamese delegation led by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrived in Astana capital on September 14, beginning a two-day official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan at the invitation of his counterpart Karim Masimov.

He was welcomed at Astana International Airport by senior Kazak officials, the Vietnamese ambassador to Kazakhstan, and representatives of the Vietnamese community there.

This is Mr Dung’s first visit to Kazakhstan to strengthen the friendship and all-round cooperation with the European country and to elevate Vietnam’s role and position in Europe and the rest of the world.

Mr Dung and Kazak leaders will discuss measures to promote bilateral cooperation in various areas, especially in trade, investment, education and energy including oil and gas.

On September 15, Mr Dung is scheduled to hold talks with PM Karim Masimov, and meet with President Nursultan Abishuly Nazarbayev and Chairman of the Senate Qasım-Jomart Kemelulı Toqayev.

He will also attend and deliver a speech at a Vietnam-Kazakhstan business forum the same day.
