PM committed to realizing Vietnam-DPRK agreements

The Vietnamese Government will strive to effectively implement the agreements reached between the leaders of Vietnam and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Receiving Kim Young Nam, President of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung reaffirmed Vietnam’s policy of respecting its cooperative relationship and promoting economic, trade, investment, and cultural ties with the DPRK.

PM Dung said Vietnam has consistently supported a peaceful, stable and developed Korean peninsula; as well as dialogues, reconciliation, cooperation, peace and unification between the two Koreas.

He also took the opportunity to convey his sympathy for the losses of human lives and property caused by recent natural disasters in the DPRK.

Kim said he was very impressed by the multifaceted progress Vietnam has achieved during its process of national socio-economic development, considering it was encouragement for national construction and development in his country.

Kim briefed his host on the DPRK’s development process and said the country attaches great importance to strengthening friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam. He said he hopes Vietnam will share its experience in national construction and socio-economic development.

He also thanked Vietnam for donating 5,000 tonnes of rice to help the DPRK overcome the aftermath of natural disasters.

He voiced the DPRK’s support for settling disputes in the East Sea through peaceful means.

Both host and guest agreed to promote the exchange of high-ranking delegations to seek ways to improve the effectiveness of their bilateral cooperation and work closely with each other in international and regional forums.
