PM Chinh pushes for aviation partnership with Brazil’s Embraer Group

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called for broader cooperation between Brazil’s Embraer Group and Vietnamese partners to promote Vietnam’s aviation industry.

He made the proposal during a meeting in Hanoi on March 29 with Embraer’s President and CEO Francisco Gomes Neto, who is accompanying Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on his state visit to Vietnam.

Embraer, a state-owned aerospace giant in which the Brazilian Government holds a 51% stake, is among the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers. In 2024, the company employed approximately 24,000 workers across 80 countries and generated nearly US$6.4 billion in revenue.

Expressing pleasure at reuniting with Neto after his September 2023 visit to Brazil, PM Chinh reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to enhancing a strong and effective partnership with Embraer. He emphasized Vietnam’s growing economy and increasing aviation demands, noting the sector’s potential to open new frontiers, including space exploration.

The Government leader invited Embraer to collaborate with Vietnamese firms in manufacturing aviation equipment, transferring technology, training the workforce, and providing technical support. He also suggested supplying aircraft at preferential rates, setting up maintenance and service centers, developing sustainable aviation fuels, and implementing emission-reduction initiatives to facilitate the industry’s green transition.

PM Chinh urged relevant agencies and businesses to expedite procedures to kickstart these projects swiftly, aiming to make aviation a key pillar of Vietnam-Brazil cooperation following President Lula da Silva’s visit.

Reaffirming the Vietnamese Government’s commitment to providing a transparent, healthy, and efficient investment environment, he assured enterprises of continued support.

In response, Neto expressed Embraer’s keen interest in contributing to Vietnam’s development. He welcomed the opportunity to introduce the company’s latest aircraft models and aviation services while reaffirming Embraer’s readiness to cooperate in the proposed areas.

He also updated the host leader on his discussions with Vietnamese partners during the visit, underscoring Embraer’s commitment to boosting cooperation in the time ahead.
