A high-level government delegation led by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, left Hanoi for Bali, Indonesia on November 16 to attend the 19th ASEAN Summit and related meetings scheduled for November 17-19.

The visit was made at the invitation of Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

The related meetings include the ASEAN-China Summit, the ASEAN + 1 summits with partners (China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India), the third ASEAN-US Leaders Meeting, the 4th UN-ASEAN Conference, the sixth East Asia Summit and the Mekong-Japan Summit.

At the 19th ASEAN Summit and related meetings, the Vietnamese delegation will continue upholding the active and responsible sprit of ASEAN Chair in 2010, strengthening solidarity among ASEAN member countries, building a strong ASEAN community, and improving its relations with other partners and its role for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.

The participation of the Vietnamese delegation led by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will contribute to improving Vietnam’s role and position in the international arena and promoting bilateral relations between Vietnam and other partners.

The delegation was accompanied by Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, Minister-Head of the Government Office Vu Duc Dam, Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, Deputy Foreign Ministers Le Luong Minh and Pham Quang Vinh.
