Philippines welcomes new ASEAN Secretary General
(VOV) - Philippine Foreign Minister Albert del Rosario has voiced his faith in the role of the new ASEAN Secretary General Le Luong Minh who succeeded Surin Pitsuwan on January 1.
In a statement released on January 2, Rosario also stressed that the change came at the time when the bloc is facing numerous challenges on some important issues in the region.
Rosario said he believed that with his extensive professional experience and expertise, the new Secretary General will be able to address the challenges as the 10 member states are working together towards establishing a community which is politically cohesive, economically integrated and socially responsible.
