More than 200 outstanding collectives and individuals gathered in Hanoi on August 2 for the sixth “Emulation for National Security “congress to welcome the 65th anniversary of establishment of people’s police force (1945-2010).

Present at the congress were Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, representatives from various ministries and sectors, heroic mothers and people’s armed force and labour heroes.

In his opening speech, Minister of Public Security General Le Hong Anh said the congress aims to uphold the patriotic emulation movements in the people’s police force and the campaign “Follow and Study President Ho Chi Minh’s Moral Example” in the 2005-2010 period. Minister Anh added it will honour exemplary role models and police and encourage people from all strata to take part in the movement “All people strengthen national security”.

PM Dung praised the achievements of the people‘s police over the past 65 years as well as their contributions to the revolutionary cause and called on them to raise their sense of responsibility, revolutionary spirit and creativity in patriotic emulation movements while combating negative phenomena and increasing operational efficiency.

On the occasion, PM Dung conferred the title of “People’s Armed Forces Hero” on the two late Senior Lieutenant Generals’ families and presented the Ho Chi Minh Order to three People’s Police collectives and the People’s Police of Lam Dong and Thua Thien Hue.
