A variety of activities have been organised across the country, marking the 82nd anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

Addressing a February 3 celebration in Thai Nguyen province, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung emphasized that the CPV’s foundation marked a milestone in Vietnam’s revolutionary history.

Over the past 82 years, under the sound leadership of the CPV, Vietnamese people have achieved independence and reaped great achievements in the renewal process to build a more prosperous state, he said.

The NA Chairman said Vietnam bears in mind Thai Nguyen’s contributions to the Dien Bien Phu victory, as well as national re-unification in 1975.

He highlighted the efforts of the province’s authorities and people in upholding the revolutionary tradition and taking the initiative to fully tap its potential for socio-economic development, ensuring national defence and security, as well as gaining achievements in all fields.

The chief legislator urged the northern mountain province to renovate its growth model and shift the economic structure by increasing the ratio of industry production and services and developing agriculture and forestry in association with building new rural areas.

He also asked Thai Nguyen to promote its exemplary role model campaigns and spare no effort in becoming an industrial, educational and training centre in the northern mountain region.

The same day, the provinces of Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa, Binh Dinh, and Binh Thuan held meetings to celebrate the CPV’s 82nd anniversary.

Also on February 3, a delegation of the CPV Central Committee, the State, the National Assembly, the Government, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front, led by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, laid a wreath in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum.
