The Foreign Ministry will discuss measures with Russian relevant authorities to assist the Vietnamese community after the host country enacted a new law on immigrant labours, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Phu Binh has said.

Mr Binh, who is also Chairman of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, recently made a fact-finding tour of Russia to inquire into the impacts of the new immigrant labour law on the Vietnamese community.

During working sessions with officials from relevant agencies in Moscow and Kazan City, Mr Binh and other Vietnamese officials affirmed that the Vietnamese community respects the host country's new regulations on immigrant labour and market management and asked the Russian side to help Vietnamese nationals find new ways to do business for their living.

The Russian officials said that new regulations are aimed at achieving socio-economic goals, streamlining administrative procedures and enhancing law enforcement in all aspects of life to ensure no discrimination against any foreign community in Russia.

After reiterating Russia’s determination to promote the strategic partnership with Vietnam, the Russian officials said they are willing to work with Vietnam on issues relating to the new regulations over which Vietnam and the Vietnamese community in the country have voiced concern.
