Party official hosts Danish Secretary for Energy, Utilities and Climate

VOV.VN - Politburo member and Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh hosted a reception for Morten Baek, Permanent Secretary at the Danish Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate in Hanoi on November 5.

Binh, who is also Secretary of the Party Central Committee, hailed the development of bilateral relations, which transformed from the traditional ODA-based relationship to the comprehensive partnership with a focus on trade and investment, green growth, energy, education and healthcare.

The bilateral relationship has grown steadily after both nations set up a strategic partnership in the areas of climate change, energy, the environment and green growth in November 2011, and upgraded their diplomatic relations to the level of comprehensive partnership in 2013, the Vietnamese Party official noted.

Binh greatly appreciated the Vietnam Energy Outlook Report 2019 conducted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Electricity, and Renewable Energy Authority and the Danish Energy Agency, which he said, will provide valuable information for Vietnam to work out a national energy development plan towards sustainable energy development coupled with protecting the environment and ensuring energy security.

Baek, in turn, applauded Vietnam’s socio-economic development achievements, saying that the Southeast Asian nation boasts great potential to develop renewable energy such as wind power and solar power, and Danish firms are interested in investing in this filed in Vietnam.

He also assured the Danish Government’s commitment to helping Vietnam cope with climate change and sustainably develop energy.
