Kon Tum province needs to fully tap its potential and strengths to provide care for poor households and ethnic minorities, and help resettle households to stabilise their lives.

This was said by Party leader and National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong during a working visit to the province on April 16-17 as part of his tour of the Central Highlands.

The focus of the working session with provincial leaders was on the implementation of the 11th National Party Congress resolution, the Politburo’s conclusion No 2 and  Government Resolution No 11, as well as preparations for the upcoming elections of the 13th National Assembly and People’s Council at all levels for the 2011- 2016 term.

Mr Trong praised Kon Tum’s significant achievements and its practical efforts to boost the province’s development. He also asked it to enhance Party building and make thorough preparations for the elections.

At the working session, provincial leaders proposed that the Politburo issue a new resolution on the development of the Central Highlands and regulations for functions, tasks and organisational structure of relevant agencies in the province.

On the occasion, Mr Trong also visited and presented gifts to families of social policy beneficiaries and revolutionary war veterans in Kon Tum.
