Singapore names new orchid after Party chief To Lam and his spouse
VOV.VN - On the morning of March 12 (local time), Party General Secretary To Lam and his spouse, Ngo Phuong Ly, attended an orchid-naming ceremony at the National Orchid Garden within the Singapore Botanic Gardens, as part of his official visit to the island city state.

Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong also joined the event.
The orchid-naming ceremony is a diplomatic tradition in Singapore, exclusively reserved for distinguished high-ranking guests visiting the country.
At the event, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong personally welcomed Party General Secretary To Lam and his spouse at the main entrance of the Singapore Botanic Gardens before accompanying them to the orchid-naming venue.
Accordingly, Singapore named the newly cultivated orchid variety "Papilionanda To Lam Linh Ly."

Following the signing of the guestbook, Party leader To Lam and his spouse unveiled the name plaque for the orchid and toured the garden. On this occasion, he also presented a souvenir to the Director of the National Orchid Garden.
Established in 1859, the Singapore Botanic Gardens is Singapore’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized in July 2015. Home to tens of thousands of orchids, including approximately 1,200 natural species and over 2,000 hybrids, it is regarded as one of the world's largest orchid displays.
Earlier, Party General Secretary To Lam, his spouse, and delegation laid flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh, the great national hero and world cultural figure at the Asian Civilizations Museum.
Located along the Singapore River, this is the only museum in the region dedicated to exploring Asia’s artistic heritage, highlighting historical connections between Asian cultures as well as between Asia and the world.
Within the museum’s expansive space, the statue of President Ho Chi Minh is placed in a dignified setting alongside those of other Asian leaders and notable figures.
