Party leader To Lam arrives in US for Gaza Board of Peace meeting
VOV.VN - At noon on February 18 (local time), Party General Secretary To Lam and his delegation arrived at Joint Base Andrews in the US to attend the opening meeting of the Board of Peace for Gaza, at the invitation of US President Donald Trump, the founding chairman of the board, from February 18 to 20.
Those welcoming Party General Secretary To Lam and his entourage at Joint Base Andrews were Nguyen Quoc Dung, Ambassador of Vietnam to the US; Do Hung Viet, Ambassador and Head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations; Dang Hoang Giang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Hoang Anh Tuan, Consul General of Vietnam in San Francisco; Hoang Thuy Duong, Consul General of Vietnam in Houston, along with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy.
As a founding member, Vietnam seeks to work with other members to promote the role of the Board of Peace for Gaza in stepping up peace and reconstruction efforts in Gaza, on the basis of resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, ensuring the legitimate interests of all parties, particularly the Palestinian people, in accordance with international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
Party chief To Lam’s participation in the inaugural meeting reflects support for peace efforts in general and for the Gaza reconstruction initiative in particular. It also contributes to strengthening cooperation between Vietnam and the US in dealing with regional and global issues, in line with the spirit of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
