The General Secretary congratulated the visiting president on the success of the 9th Congress of the Front for the Liberation of Mozambique (FRELIMO) in November 2006 and President Guebuza's re-election as FRELIMO President.

He said strengthening relations between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the FRELIMO is of great importance to developing multifaceted cooperation between the two countries. He also emphasied that Vietnam is ready to share experiences and learn more about Mozambique.

As FRELIMO President, Mr Guebuza expressed hope for closer ties between FRELIMO and the CPV, particularly in the process of national development and international integration. He said Mozambique always wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, especially in agriculture, health care, education, trade and investment.
