Vietnam and China should do their best to deepen cooperation in all fields and educate their people, especially the younger generations, about the importance of friendly neighbourliness and mutual support.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was speaking at a meeting with Chinese State Vice President Xi Jinping in Hanoi on December 21. He said the Vietnamese Party, State and people attach great importance to boosting the traditional relations and comprehensive cooperation with China.

For his part, Mr Xi said China-Vietnam relations were of great strategic importance to both countries and expressed his hopes that the relations will continue to grow and flourish under the motto  “friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability and looking toward the future” and the spirit of “good neighbours, good friends, good comrades, and good partners”.

** On the same day, Mr Xi met with National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, who expressed his belief that the Chinese leader’s Vietnam visit will contribute to increasing the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership between the two countries.
