Mr Manh welcomed Mr Liu’s visit to Vietnam and recalled his good impression of his visit to China in August 2006, including a stopover in Guangxi province. He expressed his hope that Guangxi will continue to cooperate closely with Vietnamese localities in such areas as investment, economics and trade, particularly in building infrastructure facilities for the “Two corridors, One Economic Belt” cooperation model reached by the two governments.
He also asked the two sides to boost exchanges between their sectors and people’s organisations and complete the land border demarcation and marker planting work by 2008 to build the Vietnam-China common borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
For his part, Mr Liu briefed Mr Manh on Guangxi’s socio-economic achievements and the results of the delegation’s visit to Vietnam this time. He expressed his desire to further strengthen cooperation between Guangxi and Vietnamese localities, particularly in investment, trade, training, services and tourism aimed at speeding up the implementation of the “Two Corridors, One Economic Belt” cooperation model.
Earlier the same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia khiem received Mr Liu who expressed his satisfaction with the results of the Guangxi delegation’s visit to Vietnam. He said the two sides reached an agreement to build the Dong Dang-Peng Xiang border economic zone. He proposed that the two sides build Hanoi-You Yi Guan and Hanoi-Mong Cai roads as soon as possible and upgrade two railway lines between Nanning and Hanoi and HCM City and Phnom Penh. He also said Guangxi wants to cooperate with Da Nang city in building seaports.
Mr Khiem welcomed Mr Liu’s proposal to develop seaports in Da Nang and expressed his hope that the agreement will be approved to help facilitate economic development in Da Nang City and the central and Central Highlands regions as a whole.
