Party leader meets with voters in Thai Nguyen
Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh paid a visit to Thai Nguyen province to meet with voters on April 28.

Mr Manh highlighted huge achievements recorded by the province in 2009 and in the first months of 2010 despite numerous difficulties caused by the global economic downturn. “Localities and sectors should turn challenges into development opportunities, Mr Manh said.
He told local voters that Vietnam has reached an average income of more than US$1,000/per capita, helping the country escape from its underdeveloped antion status, he said.
The Party leader stated that mechanisms and policies are important resources to fully tap into potential and mobilize investment, particularly in remote areas. “It is essential to narrow the development gap in different areas in the country, with a focus on training young officers,” he added.
He also expressed his hope that Thai Nguyen’s officials and people will join efforts in making a breakthrough in the province’s development.

Voters in Thai Nguyen asked the Party and State to continue Programme 135 in remote areas, which are home to many ethnic minority groups. They called for more investment in developing schools, transport networks, electricity grids, and irrigation projects, as well as protecting forests and building new rural areas.
