At the meeting, the Party leader said that Ms Kumar’s visit is important to promote the relationship between the two countries as well as the two parliaments.
He confirmed that the multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and India has been implemented effectively, especially in the fields of politics, security, national defense, education and training.
Vietnam always highly appreciates India’s great support and is also delighted at the country’s development, he added.
The two way trade turnover between the two countries hit US$2.7 billion in 2010.
Mr Trong proposed that the two parliaments will continue exchanging high ranking delegations and support each other in resolving regional and international issues.
Chairwoman Kumar thanked the Vietnamese leaders and people for their warm welcome and congratulated the country on its successful organisation of the 11th National Party Congress and Mr Trong for being elected as the Party General Secretary.
She said she believes that Vietnam will gain some remarkable achievements during its process of renewal.
Ms Kumar expressed her satisfaction with the various documents and agreements that were signed between the two countries and said she believes that the meeting will contribute significantly to boosting cooperation between the two parliaments.
