General Secretary Trong, who is also Secretary of the Central Military Party Commission and NA Chairman, and four other candidates presented their plans of action at the meetings.

Mr Trong stressed the role and task of the 13^th National Assembly in institutionalising guidelines and strategies for the country’s construction and development during the transitional period to socialism set by the 11^th Party Congress, gradually translating Party resolutions the reality.

The 13^th National Assembly needs to pursuit renovation of the organisation and operation of the legislature and its bodies and missions as well as improving the quality and capacity of each deputy, he said.

Mr Trong and the candidates pledged to spare no effort to improve the quality and operation effectiveness of the National Assembly on four working pillars – law making, supervising, deciding the country’s important issues and external relations.

Also the same day, meetings between other NA candidates and voters were held across Hanoi in Long Bien district and other suburban districts of Dan Phuong, Tu Liem, Hoai Duc, Dong Anh, Me Linh and Soc Son.
