During the visit, the Director of the Hanoi Police Major General Nguyen Duc Nhanh, briefed the Party leader on last year’s achievements in maintaining order urban and rural areas.

On behalf of the Party and State, Mr Manh praised the force’s achievements in safeguarding national security, maintaining social order and safety and fulfilling all its duties in 2009.

The Party leader pointed out challenges in 2010 as subversive elements continue to hatch “peaceful evolution” schemes against the Vietnamese State and fraud, drug trafficking, computer crime and trans-national crimes and other social evils are on the rise and becoming more serious and complex.

Mr Manh asked the city’s police force to unite with the people and bring into full play their political strength to promote the “Protecting national security” movement and to implement the Law on National Security, the resolutions on fatherland protection strategy, in the new situation and the national programme on crime and drug prevention and control.
