Party leader emphasizes improving bilateral collaboration with Laos

VOV.VN- General Secretary Trong has underscored the need to improve the quality and efficiency of bilateral cooperation in education-training and human resource development.

At a reception for Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith in Hanoi on October 3, the Party chief called on the two governments to alleviate difficulties and remove obstacles to ensure the progress and quality of Vietnamese investment projects in Laos.

It is imperative to devise measures to increase two-way trade and enhance connectivity in economy, transport infrastructure and energy, he noted.

Both nations should boost collaboration in national defence, security and external affairs in addition to information and experience sharing in the Party building work, State and socio-economic management and the implementation of Party resolutions, he said.

Trong also hailed PM Sisoulith’s visit to Vietnam, which takes place at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 55th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties and 40 years of their signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.

The Party chief affirmed Vietnam’s great support for the cause of reform, national defence and construction in Laos, expressing his belief  that under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the management of the Government and the supervision of the National Assembly, the Lao people will reap even greater achievements in the reform process.

PM Sisoulith stated that the Lao Government will work hand in hand with its Vietnamese counterpart to instruct relevant ministries, agencies and localities to effectively implement agreements reached by senior leaders of the two Parties and countries, as well as agreements reached at the 39th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee, and carefully prepare for the 40th meeting of the committee.
