Party leader affirms stronger ties with Cambodia
Vietnam gives top priority to maintaining and developing the fine neighbourliness, time-honoured friendship and long-term and comprehensive cooperation with Cambodia, says Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Mr Trong, who is on an official visit to Cambodia, was speaking during high-level talks with King Norodom Sihamoni in Phnom Penh on December 6.

Mr Trong thanked King N. Sihamoni, King-father Norodom Sihanouk, Queen-mother Monineath, the royal family and Cambodian people for their valuable assistance to Vietnam in the past and at present.
For his part, King Sihamoni welcomed Mr Trong’s visit and expressed Cambodian people’s deep gratitude to the Communist Party, government and people of Vietnam who helped Cambodia escape the genocidal regime and reconstruct the nation.
Vietnamese people are great and trusted friends of Cambodian people, and Cambodian people are good neighbours and stand side by side with Vietnamese people, said King Sihamoni.
He said he will do his utmost to cement the great solidarity, pure friendship and fine neighbourly cooperation between the two countries.
Both host and guest agreed that Cambodia and Vietnam will further strengthen their comprehensive and long-term relationship, considering it an invaluable asset of the two nations and a key factor in creating a bright future for their young generations.
They said such a good relationship will positively contribute to consolidating peace, stability, cooperation and development in Southeast Asia and the rest of the world.
Later, Mr Trong paid a courtesy visit to King-father Sihanouk and Queen-mother Monineath, who described the Cambodia-Vietnam relationship as inseparable.
King-father Sihanouk said the two countries should uphold their fine tradition to foster cooperative ties in the new era of national development.
Party leader Trong invited King Sihamoni, King-father Sihanouk and Queen-mother Monineath to make regular visits to Vietnam. King Sihamoni accepted the invitation.
On this occasion, Mr Trong handed over 100 computers to King Sihamoni as gifts to Cambodian schools and education centres.
In the evening, King Sihamoni gave a banquet in honour of Party leader Trong and his entourage.
