Mr Manh was welcomed at Haneda airport by Yasutoshi Nishimura, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mitsuo Sakaba, Japanese ambassador to Vietnam and senior officials from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Also on hand were Vietnamese ambassador to Japan Nguyen Phu Binh, and representatives of Vietnamese residents and students in the capital city. Later in the afternoon, the Party leader visited and talked to the Vietnamese embassy's staff in Tokyo.
