Party General Secretary To Lam pays pre-Tet visit to Ho Chi Minh City
VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam on the morning of February 9 visited and extended Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026 (Tet) greetings to the Party organization, authorities and people of Ho Chi Minh City.
On behalf of Party and State leaders, the Party chief conveyed warm regards and New Year wishes to incumbent and former leaders, veteran revolutionaries, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces and Heroes of Labour, policy beneficiary families, as well as all residents and Party members of the city.
He hailed the efforts and achievements recorded by the city’s Party organization, administration and people in recent years.
The Party leader underscored that the implementation of the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress over the next five to ten years carries pivotal significance, determining the fulfilment of the Party’s centennial goals and laying a solid foundation toward the 100th anniversary of the founding of the nation.
In that process, Ho Chi Minh City, he said, needs to further affirm its role as a leading engine, a pace-setter and a model, serving as a locality to which the central leadership can confidently assign new, difficult and major tasks. The city should continue to act as a key driver of national growth, innovation and international integration.
On that basis, the General Secretary called on the city’s Party organization to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, the Politburo’s strategic resolutions, and the resolution of the city’s Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term.
He urged the city to turn these into concrete action programmes with clear tasks, responsibilities and timelines, and to successfully organise elections for the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels, while ensuring democracy, safety and compliance with the law.
He also requested the city to focus on removing major bottlenecks, achieving breakthroughs in institutions, infrastructure and human resources, and shifting its growth model toward greater depth and quality. At the same time, the city should enhance the effectiveness of special mechanisms and policies, and gradually develop financial, logistics and innovation hubs of regional and international standing.
Alongside economic priorities, the General Secretary stressed the need to further strengthen mass mobilisation work, promote the people’s role as central stakeholders, and take public satisfaction, prosperity and well-being as key measures of leadership and governance effectiveness. He called for continued attention to people’s livelihoods, particularly during the Tet holiday, so that all families can enjoy a joyful, safe and compassionate New Year.
He also asked the city to continue resolutely advancing Party building and rectification, stepping up efforts to prevent and combat corruption, waste and other negative practices, enhancing inspection and supervision, upholding discipline and order, and building a truly clean and strong city Party organization.
On the occasion, General Secretary To Lam presented Tet gifts to the city’s Party organization, authorities and people, as well as to exemplary policy beneficiary families and individuals with meritorious service.
Earlier the same morning, the Party leader visited and extended Tet greetings to researcher Nguyen Dinh Tu, author of numerous in-depth works on administrative geography and the history of southern Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City.
During the visit, the General Secretary conveyed his New Year wishes and expressed hope that Nguyen Dinh Tu would continue to enjoy good health, remain active and creative, and produce further valuable works, serving as an enduring role model for present and future generations.
