Party chief hopes for Pacifico Energy’s greater investment in Vietnam

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam has encouraged US-based Pacifico Energy (PE) to expand its cooperation and investment in Vietnam, particularly in new energy transition projects, while accelerating the implementation of ongoing initiatives.

During a meeting with PE Chairman Nate Franklin on March 14 in Hanoi, the Vietnamese Party leader hailed PE’s contributions to Vietnam’s renewable energy sector and its role in strengthening Vietnam-US relations.

He affirmed that the US remains one of Vietnam’s key economic partners and that the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is opening up new opportunities for American enterprises to invest and do business in Vietnam.

The Party chief reiterated Vietnam’s long-term development goals of becoming a developing country with a modern industrial base and upper-middle income by 2030, and a high-income developed country by 2045. He emphasized that the Party and Government of Vietnam would continue to fine-tune institutional frameworks to create a favorable investment environment. He also reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

To meet its growth targets, Vietnam requires a stable power supply, particularly from clean energy sources. The government has been working to refine legal mechanisms to facilitate energy investments, not only to support Vietnam’s economic growth but also to contribute to regional energy security.

General Secretary To Lam called on PE to expand its presence in Vietnam, strengthen collaboration with local enterprises, promote technology transfer, and share expertise in wind and renewable energy development.

For his part, Nate Franklin expressed his appreciation for Vietnam’s efforts to improve its investment environment and the support provided to US businesses. He voiced confidence that under the leadership of Party General Secretary To Lam and other Vietnamese leaders, Vietnam will achieve its ambitious development goals.

He also highlighted Vietnam’s potential for offshore wind power and noted that PE is accelerating its survey and planning efforts for such projects. These initiatives align with Vietnam’s push for double-digit economic growth in the coming years.

Franklin further stressed that PE’s success in Vietnam is a testament to the strength of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He expressed hope that this would incentivize more US firms to invest in Vietnam.

He reaffirmed PE’s commitment to expanding its investments in wind and renewable energy, thereby contributing to Vietnam’s sustainable economic growth and further deepening bilateral ties.
