Party chief attends groundbreaking of Communist Party of Vietnam Museum project

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Vietnam Communist Party of Vietnam Museum project in Hanoi on the morning of February 3.

The event aims to mark the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 – February 3, 2026) and celebrate the successful conclusion of the 14th National Party Congress.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Vo Thanh Hung said the event was of particular significance, showing deep respect for the Party’s glorious and heroic history over the past 96 years.

Since its founding on February 3, 1930, the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh, has led the Vietnamese nation through immense hardship to achieve major victories of historic importance. The Party guided the country from colonial rule to independence and national reunification, and continues to lead the nation and the people in writing a new chapter in a new era of development, an era focused on building a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilised and happy Vietnam.

Vo Thanh Hung said the CPV Museum is defined not only as a place to preserve, safeguard and display the Party’s invaluable historical records and documents, but also as a venue that must truthfully and vividly convey the revolutionary journey of the Party and the nation.

Those also in attendance were former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu, along with many current and former Party and State leaders.

The museum is intended to serve as a “red address” for revolutionary tradition education, helping to build belief, ideals and revolutionary ethics among Party members and the public, particularly younger generations. It will also introduce international friends to the history, role and major contributions of the Communist Party of Vietnam to national liberation movements worldwide.

It is defined as a cultural and historical work, combining elements of Vietnam’s millennia-old cultural traditions with a modern, solemn and dignified character, bringing together a heroic past and aspirations for future development.

With distinctive architectural and landscape features, the project is a cultural landmark of Hanoi and of the country as a whole, and a destination generations of Vietnamese hope to visit. It is intended to have lasting value for today and for future generations.

To ensure the project is completed on schedule and to the required quality, Vo Thanh Hung called on the investor, contractors and relevant agencies to show the highest level of determination and effort, and to demonstrate responsibility and dedication in every stage and component of implementation.

He also said the investor should conduct regular inspections and supervision, promptly handle or report emerging issues to competent authorities, and, throughout the construction process, pay close attention to occupational safety, environmental sanitation, and full compliance with Party regulations and State laws.

Reporting on project progress at the ceremony, Director General of the Administration Department of the Party Central Committee Office Nguyen Van Tham said that in April 2025, the department was assigned as the investor for construction of the museum.

On December 12, 2025, the Politburo agreed on the master planning concept and architectural design, drawing inspiration from deep-rooted traditional values embodied in the “village-nation” structure of Vietnamese culture, symbolised by bamboo hedges and village wharves. The architectural concept reflects Vietnam’s intellect and aspiration for autonomy in the new era.

With architectural forms symbolising a “rising steel rampart”, combined with digital technologies to develop a smart and highly modern museum, the project expresses the spirit of great national unity and the close bond between the Party and the people in the cause of building and firmly safeguarding the nation’s ideals of “Independence-Freedom-Happiness”.

Alongside continued completion of project documentation, the investor will direct contractors to accelerate construction, organise the reception of documents and artefacts from various sources, estimated at around 5,000 items, and carry out research, collection, development of detailed content outlines and exhibition design.

In parallel with the establishment of the museum, work will be carried out to recruit high-quality personnel and implement training and professional development programmes to ensure full operational readiness once the museum comes into service.

The project targets operational launch in the second quarter of 2029, with inauguration and opening to the public planned for the 100th anniversary of the Party’s founding on February 3, 2030.

Representatives of the project pledged to accelerate project progress, while meeting and exceeding set targets, bringing the facility into operation as early as possible, and ensuring no waste or misconduct occurs. They also expressed the hope of continued support from Party and State leaders, as well as coordination from ministries, agencies, relevant international organisations and the Hanoi authorities throughout project implementation.
