Party chief affirms strong support for US investors in Vietnam

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Party and State pay close attention to and create favorable conditions for foreign businesses, including US enterprises, to invest and operate efficiently and sustainably in Vietnam in accordance with the law.

Party General Secretary To Lam made the statement during his meeting with Jeffrey Perlman, CEO of Warburg Pincus, a leading US-based global private equity firm, and Chairman of the US-ASEAN Business Council, in Hanoi on April 18.

During the meeting, the Party leader affirmed that the US is one of Vietnam’s most important strategic partners. He expressed his elation at the positive and substantive developments in the Vietnam–US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in recent times, which serve the interests of the two peoples and contribute to peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region and the world.

He congratulated and highly appreciated the successful investment projects of the Group in Vietnam, which have contributed to the country’s development and helped expand economic, investment, and trade cooperation between the two nations.

He called on Warburg Pincus to maintain and expand its investment in ongoing projects and to explore opportunities in areas where US businesses have strengths and Vietnam has demand, such as high technology, new energy, and digital infrastructure.

Party General Secretary To Lam thanked Warburg Pincus and US businesses for their partnership and support in dealing with tariff issues between the two countries.

He emphasized that Vietnam and the US have complementary economies and noted that the recent visit to the US by Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc, in his capacity as Special Envoy of the Party General Secretary, had yielded positive initial results, thus paving the way for bilateral trade agreement negotiations.

The Party chief encouraged Jeffrey Perlman and US businesses investing and operating in Vietnam to continue their support and advocacy, enabling the two sides to soon reach an agreement, thereby promoting stable and sustainable economic, trade, and investment cooperation that serves the interests of both peoples and business communities.

In response, Jeffrey Perlman expressed his honor at being received by the Party General Secretary and thanked the Vietnamese Party and State leaders for their continued attention, and support for Warburg Pincus and other US businesses investing and operating in Vietnam.

Congratulating Vietnam on its recent development achievements, the Warburg Pincus CEO said these successes have served as an inspiration and strengthened the confidence of US investors in the country.

He emphasized that, following over a decade of successful operations in Vietnam, Warburg Pincus wishes to continue its long-term investments to bring positive changes to the country.

Perlman highlighted the success of the Group’s projects in Vietnam, including the Ho Tram project in Ba Ria – Vung Tau and the Metropole Hotel project in Hanoi, which he said have become symbols of successful cooperation between the two countries and of foreign investment in Vietnam, helping attract more potential investors.

He also affirmed that he and the Group’s leadership will continue to support and advise Vietnamese ministries and agencies on tariff solutions that benefit both peoples and businesses, contributing to the stable, sustainable, and effective development of Vietnam–US relations.
