Paraguayan President Fernando Lugo Mendez has expressed his deep impressions when witnessing evidence of damages caused by imperialists to Vietnamese people.

“Vietnam is a large school of peace,” Fernando Lugo Mendez told Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan about his feelings at the Thong Nhat Palace on March 10 after visiting the Museum of War Remnants.

He also said that he and his entourage were very impressed by the natural beauty of the country as well as the hardworking and altruistic Vietnamese people.

Paraguay is also a peace-loving nation and a heroic nation in the struggle for national independence, so it respects victories gained by itself and Vietnam during the struggles, the President said.

He also stressed the Paraguayan people’s sentiments towards President Ho Chi Minh, saying that for many generations of Paraguayan people, Ho Chi Minh was a great example.

For his part, Quan said that in spite of geographical distance, Vietnam and Paraguay share a lot of similarities in historical traditions, as well as in national construction and development.

He affirmed that HCM City will do its utmost to help strengthen the understanding and development cooperation between Vietnam and Paraguay.
