The seminar involved Nguyen Van Pha, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Nguyen Si Dung, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Office.
During the seminar, the two officials provided basic information about the Politburo’s decree No 50 on the organization of the elections of the 13th National Assembly and People’s Councils for the 2011-2016 term.
Dung said this year’s elections aim to promote the people’s democratic spirit and select prominent candidates in terns of both competence and morality. The deputies to the National Assembly and People’s Councils must be those who are loyal to the Fatherland and the Constitution, and very determined to fight corruption, he stressed.
Pha introduced the process and procedures of elections which were designed to ensure the maximum possible democracy for people. He noted that the numbers of nominees are much higher than those of elected candidates, with the former being at least double the latter.
In addition, the percentage of specialized deputies will be raised from 26 percent currently to 33 percent, according to the cyber seminar.
Voters are encouraged to learn carefully about their own rights and duties and closely monitor the candidates’ process of running for posts in the legislative agencies.
