New Zealand wants to increase cooperation in education and training with Ho Chi Minh City, said NZ  Speaker of the House of Representatives Lockwood Smith.

During a meeting with Chairwoman of the HCM City People’s Council Pham Phuong Thao on April 17, he said that NZ is seeking new opportunities for investment and cooperation in vocational training with HCM City. He also talked about new possibilities for bilateral cooperation, especially in agriculture - a strength of his country.

Chairwoman Thao said she hopes the visit will open up a new chapter in the two legislative bodies, creating new cooperation opportunities in trade, which remains modest.

New Zealand has invested in the ACG Vietnam International School – member of the Academic Colleges Group (ACG). A Wellington University branch is operating efficiently in the city with assistance from the HCM City Economics University.

A number of other vocational training programmes between New Zealand and Jestar Vietnam airlines are also underway, helping train pilots and aviation workforce for the city.
