Minister Thanh said he believes that the NZ Defence Ministry delegation’s visit will help promote the friendship and mutual understanding between the two armies and people of Vietnam and New Zealand for peace, friendship, cooperation, and stability in the region and the world at large.

For his part, John Mckinnon proposed that the two defence ministries boost ties through the exchange of top-level military delegations, English training for Vietnamese officers and the sharing of experiences when undertaking UN peacekeeping duties.
