During his stay in Vietnam, the New Zealand top legislator held talks with the Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman, Nguyen Phu Trong, and paid a courtesy visit to State President Nguyen Minh Triet.
He also met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thien Nhan.
During the talks and meetings, both sides affirmed their wish to further strengthen the friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and New Zealand, both bilaterally and multilaterally, for the benefit of the two countries’ people and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the Asia-Pacific region and the world as well.
Both sides also discussed specific measures to boost the cooperation and exchange between the two parliaments and to bolster bilateral ties in economics, trade, investment, education and training.
During the visit, the New Zealand Speaker and his entourage laid a wreath at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and visited Ho Chi Minh City.
