NZ Minister for Ethnic Affairs Chris Carter and standing Deputy Foreign Minister Simon Murdoch made the remarks while receiving a Vietnamese delegation led by Nguyen Phu Binh, Deputy Foreign Minister and head of the National Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs.
The two sides exchanged views on the living conditions of Vietnamese nationals in New Zealand as well as bilateral and international issues of mutual concern.
During the April 1-3 visit, Mr Binh called on a number of establishments and businesses run by Vietnamese nationals living in Wellington and Auckland. The Vietnamese emigrants praised the Party and State's policies concerning overseas Vietnamese affairs and pledged to make further contributions to the homeland.
The delegation handed over certificates of merit from the Foreign Minister and the Chairman of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs to several overseas Vietnamese.
