New US ambassador urged to promote bilateral relations
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception for the US ambassador in Hanoi on December 26 during which, he asked the diplomat to urge the US Government to deal with issues proposed by Vietnam towards facilitating the development of bilateral ties.
PM Phuc praised newly-accredited US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel Kritenbrink’s contributions to boosting Vietnam-US relations when he served as stint as as Senior Director for Asian Affairs at the US National Security Council and suggested him help intensify high-level delegation exchange.
Recalling his official visit to the US in May 2017, PM Phuc said the two sides discussed and agreed upon a sore of measures to foster the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership.
Vietnam has been actively carrying out agreed measures, including those to balance bilateral trade, he said, adding increasing two-way trade will benefit the people of both nations.
PM Phuc told his guest that he hopes the US Ambassador will have a successful working term in Vietnam. The Government of Vietnam will work hand in hand with the US to propel the bilateral rapports forward.
Kritenbrink said his nation considers Vietnam as one of its important partners in the region and in the world alike.
The ambassador congratulated Vietnam on the successful hosting of the APEC 2017 Economic Leaders Week and conveyed US President Donald Trump’s thanks for Vietnam’s warm welcome during his visit to the Southeast Asian country in November.
Kritenbrink said his primary task is focused on expanding cooperative relations between the two countries, adding that economic and trade cooperation is a pillar in Vietnam-US cooperative ties, which is growing steadily.
The diplomat also showed his hope to work with Vietnam to well address challenges and capitalize on opportunities to further push up bilateral relations.
