New progress has been made in the relations between Vietnam and the US, saidChairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan at a reception for US Senator James Webb in HCM City on July 6.
The city’s mayor appreciated the US Senator’s contributions to enhancing the two countries’ diplomatic ties and boosting mutual understanding and healing the war’s wounds.
He expressed thanks to the Senator for his assistance to Vietnamese nationals living in the US.
Webb, who is also Chairman of the Subcommittee on East Asia and Pacific Affairs of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, said that he will make further contributions to promoting the friendship bridge between the 2 million overseas Vietnamese people and the US.
Quan praised Senator Webb’s fine sentiments towards the Vietnamese people, confirming that HCM City and Vietnam will create favourable conditions for overseas Vietnamese to visit homeland.
