They congratulated Vietnam on its achievements in the renewal process and expressed their hope that Vietnam will become a modern industrialised country by 2020, as per the target set by the 11th National Party Congress.

The five ambassadors pledged to do their utmost to boost their country’s bilateral relationship with Vietnam, especially in economics and trade.

While receiving Turkish ambassador Ahmet Akif Oktay, Mr. Sang said he hopes that the Vietnam-Turkey two-way trade will reach US$1 billion by the end of this year and that the two countries will soon sign an agreement on investment protection and encouragement and another on double taxation. He also called for Turkey to open a direct air route to Hanoi and to support Vietnam in becoming a Human Rights Council member.

At the meeting with Mexican ambassador Gilberto Limon, the State leader affirmed Vietnam’s foreign policies to boost bilateral cooperation with Mexico. He said he plans to arrange a meeting with Mexican President on the sidelines of the 19th annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in Honolulu, USA to discuss the two countries’ relationship.

During the meeting with Chinese ambassador, Kong Ruanyou, President Sang emphasised Vietnam’s viewpoint in developing the traditional relationship with China under the motto "Friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability, and future-oriented vision" and in the spirit of "good neighbours, good friends, good comrades and good partners" set by the two countries’ leaders.

Mr. Sang highlighted Laos’s significant achievements during its renewal process and hoped Vietnam and Laos will deepen their special friendship and solidarity while meeting with Lao ambassador Somphon Sichaleune.

At the reception for Swiss ambassador Andrej Motyl, President Sang said he hopes that Switzerland will continue to help Vietnam with finance and banking and promote the relationship between the two countries’ small and medium-sized businesses.
