National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong received a visiting delegation of the Lao National Assembly's Economy, Planning and Finance Committee led by Chairman Khamsing Sayakone on January 4.

Chairman Trong highlighted the agreement between the two Parties and governments aimed at lifting bilateral relations to a higher level in the direction of effective economic and cultural cooperation and teaching young generations to value the special traditional relations between Vietnam and Laos, which were fostered by generations of the two countries' senior leaders. He emphasised the significance of close cooperation between the two national assemblies which are the highest legislative bodies to represent the people's will, aspirations and interests is of very special significance.

Mr Khamsing Sayakone expressed his hope that committees of the two national assemblies would continue exchanging delegations and sharing working experiences to help increase the cooperation between the two legislative bodies as well as the two parties and governments.

Earlier, the Lao delegation held talks with a delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly Committee for Economics and Budget, led by Chairman Nguyen Duc Kien.

During the Lao delegation's visit from January 3-10, they plan to work with National Assembly deputies and representatives and the People's Councils in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Ninh and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces.
