Vietnam rejects foreign interventions into its internal affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Nguyen Phuong Nga said yesterday following comments by the US and EU regarding last week's affirmation of the verdict against anti-State agitator Cu Huy Ha Vu by the Court of Appeals of the Supreme People's Court.

"We reject comments interfering in Viet Nam's internal affairs," said Nga. "Viet Nam is a law-bound country. As in other countries, all violations have to be treated as regulated by Viet Nam's laws, which are in conformity with international law, including the International Convention on Civil and Political Rights."

The spokeswoman said there were no so-called "prisoners of conscience" in Viet Nam as alleged by the US and EU.

In Vu's case, the due sentence was handed to the right criminal, she said
