After ten years of tireless efforts, Vinh Phuc has gradually shifted its economic restructuring towards industrialisation and modernisation with the proportion of industry and services accounting for nearly 83 percent of its total revenue. The province has recorded high growth rates in terms of industrial production value and budget revenue, contributing significantly to the central budget.

Addressing the meeting, State President Triet expressed appreciation for the great achievements of the provincial Party organisation, local administration and people the past year and called on them to uphold revolutionary tradition, reinforce democratic practice, make the best use of opportunities and tap full potential so that the province can develop strongly and comprehensively.

He also asked them to properly implement a nationwide campaign to encourage local people to follow the late President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example.

**** In the opening speech delivered at a meeting marking the 77^th founding of the CPV in central Ha Tinh province, Tran Dinh Dan, member of the CPV Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee highlighted the CPV’s role in leading Vietnamese people to win one victory after another.

Over the past 77 years, Ha Tinh’s Party organisation and its people have made substantial contributions to the struggle for national liberation as well as the country’s Doi Moi (Renovation) process, Mr Dan emphasised.

With an annual economic growth rate of nearly 15 percent, the people of Bac Lieu’s living standards have improved remarkably as more than 93 percent of households have been provided with electricity and 91 percent given access to safe water. In 2006, the province’s budget collection saw a ten-fold increase compared to ten years ago.

*** The same day, the Vietnam Women’s Union launched the campaign ““Following Ho Chi Minh’s Moral Example”. This is a political activity of great significance to mark the 77^th founding anniversary of the CPV.

On behalf of the union members, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women’s Union Ha Thi Khiet expressed deep respect for President Ho Chi Minh- a national hero who devoted his whole life to national independence, people’s happiness and the cause of women emancipation.

On this occasion, the Union called on all its members to actively respond to the campaign by performing practical activities such as constantly studying and practising, improving moral characters and building a good lifestyle.
