At the year-end meeting, Mr Dan said lawmakers will discuss the implementation of the country’s socio-economic development tasks and budget spending in 2009, tasks and budget allocations for 2010.
They are expected to pass bills on the elderly, medical treatment, telecommunications, radio frequency, militia, natural resource tax, and amendments to some articles of the Education Law, the Value Added Tax Law and the Corporate Income Tax Law.
They will also debate other bills on the State Bank of Vietnam (revised), credit organisations (revised), land and housing tax, child adoption, the enforcement of criminal verdicts, energy use and saving, people with disabilities, posts, trade arbitrators, and food safety.
The deputies will examine reports on the implementation of key national projects, including the Dung Quat No1 Oil Refinery, the Son La Hydro-electronic Power Plant, the plantation of 5 million hectares of forests, and the Ho Chi Minh National Highway. They will decide on investment options for the Lai Chau Hydro-Electric Power Plant project and the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant project.
They will spend time evaluating reports by the NA Standing committee, NA committees, the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuracy, as well as questioning Cabinet members about issues of voter concern.
