A delegation from the Vietnam National Assembly’s Committee for Science, Technology and Environment, led by Dang Vu Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, had a talk with Bountiem Phitsamay, Minister and Head of Science, Technology and Environment Agency in Laos on June 29.

The two sides exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, including forest and water resource protection, afforestation and experiences on environment management.

Both agreed to strengthen multi-faceted cooperation, especially in consumer protection, food safety and bio-diversity.

On the same day, the delegation was received by Thongsinh Thammavong, Chairman of the Lao National Assembly. He welcomed the delegation’s visit and emphasised that sustainable environmental protection and development chief concerns of the Lao Party and State, making the exchange of experience between the two sides meaningful and useful.

Mr. Vu Minh said he was deeply impressed by Laos’s ample green forests and water resources which need preserving to develop the hydroelectric power system in the country.
