Namibia’s Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources Bernhard Martin Esau has said he hopes that Vietnam will soon send specialist to Namibia to help it develop aquaculture.
During his talks with Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat in Hanoi on June 14, Mr Esau invited several Vietnamese businesses to visit Namibia to seek out opportunities in the field. He also confirmed that Namibia will give top priority to working with Vietnam in agriculture.
While emphasising Vietnam’s wish to foster trade and investment ties with Namibia, Minister Phat added that Vietnam is already cooperating with several other Asian countries in fishing and aquaculture but its scope with African nations in this field is limited to technical exchanges.
Also at the talks, both ministers agreed to speed up the carrying out of a tripartite cooperation agreement between Vietnam, Namibia and the UN Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) to provide seafood specialists, which was signed in May this year.
