According to the Director of the Kien Giang provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Mai Anh Nhin, Kien Giang’s total investment capital in the 2006-2011 period reached more than VND75,100 billion, accounting for 35 percent of the province’s GDP.

This capital was primarily poured into the agro-forestry-fishery sector, and socio-economic infrastructure development in rural areas, making up approximately 21.6 percent of the province’s total investment.

NA Vice Chairwoman Kim Ngan praised the province’s efforts to fully implement Party and State guidelines and policies on agriculture and rural development and asked provincial leaders to clarify the efficiency of public investment in agriculture and rural development and deal with farmer-related issues.
