On February 17, National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan received a delegation of the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group led by President Paijit Sree Warakan.

Mrs Ngan spoke highly of the Thai delegation’s visit and shared her sympathy over Thailand’s difficulties caused by floods.

She said she hopes that the Thai government and people will soon overcome the aftermath of the natural disaster to continue of the process of national development.

Mrs Ngan expressed her delight at the ongoing development of multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand, particularly between the two parliaments, since the two countries established diplomatic ties 35 years ago.

Vietnam always attaches great importance to developing cooperation with Thailand and expressed her wish that the two sides will continue to strengthen the ties of friendship and cooperation for the two countries’ prosperity and mutual benefit and for the sake of peace, cooperation and development in the region.

The two nations should further boost regional and international cooperation within the UN forums, the Non-Aligned Movement, ASEAN, ASEM and APEC, and work more closely on issues related to Mekong river water and peace and stability in the East Sea.

Paijit Sree Warakan expressed hope that friendship parliamentary groups of the two parliaments will continue their exchanges to promote mutual understanding, adding that both sides need enhance bilateral cooperation in economics, trade and tourism.
