Vice President Stavros Lambrinidi said at an European Parliament (EP) meeting that the visit has provided the EP with more information on Vietnam’s policies and that EP members appreciated Vietnam’s role as Chair of ASEAN and ASEAN Inter-Parliament Assembly (AIPA).
The EP Vice President and members also pledged to encourage the EU to abolish the anti-dumping tax imposed on Vietnamese footwear.
Mrs. Phong informed EP members about Vietnam’s socio-economic situation, as well as its recent political and socio-economic achievements. She also said that she hopes Vietnam-EU cooperation will continue to grow and flourish.
On July 26, the delegation had made a fact-finding tour of the Netherlands to exchange experiences in constructing, operating, and protecting sea dykes; managing water resources, preventing and dealing with climate change and protecting the environment.
In the German state of Hessen, Mrs. Phong was received by Norbert Kartmann, the President of the State Parliament and Nicola Beer, Secretary of State for European Affairs. At the meeting, both parties expressed their delight at the development of bilateral cooperation and hope it will be promoted in the future.
