The 47th session of the National Assembly Standing Committee opened in Hanoi on March 1, presided over by the NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong.

In his opening address, Mr Trong said during the one-week working session, the NA Standing Committee will focus discussions on the Law on Legal Assistance, Amendments and Supplements to the Law on NA Organisation, Draft Law on Special Amnesty and Draft Law on Chemicals. It will hear reports of the State President, Prime Minister, Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court, and head of Supreme People’s Procuracy on their working terms. It will also debate reports on the implementation of the Law on Corruption Prevention and Combat, the Law on Thrift Practice and Wastefulness Prevention, the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Gas-Electricity-Nitrogenous Fertilizer Project, and the Government report on the State budget for 2006 and 2007.


The NA Standing Committee will consider a plan on the construction of the National Assembly building and preparations for the 11th session of the 11th legislature.

On March 1, the committee discussed and gave opinions on the Law on Legal Assistance and Amendments and Supplements to the Law on NA Organisation.
