He said during the 29-day session, the legislature discussed the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in the 2006-2010 period and in 2011, and adopted a resolution on major targets for 2012 with priority given to reining in inflation, stabilizing the macro economy and accelerating international integration.
Deputies set major development targets for the 2011-2015 period and approved land use plans until 2015 and with a vision toward 2020.
They approved five bills, including those on archive, complaint and denunciation settlement, and a resolution on the law-making programme of the National Assembly for the 13th tenure.
The enforcement of these bills will help to complete the legal system, meeting requirements for building a law-governed socialist state in Vietnam, said Mr Hung.
Deputies gave opinions on 13 other bills which will be revised for debates at the upcoming NA session.
They questioned four Cabinet ministers and the Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam about hot issues of voter concern. The Prime Minister also responded to the deputies’ queries and clarified certain issues related to the government’s performance.
The Q&A session was focused on solutions for reducing traffic accidents and congestion, mitigating the adverse impact of climate change, improving the quality of education and training, managing market prices and public debts, restructuring the banking system, and controlling inflation effectively, as well as investment policies for agriculture and rural development.
Several Cabinet members admitted accountability for weaknesses in their sectors and proposed specific measures to overcome these faults in the future.
Chairman Hung welcomed issues raised by voters, considering them useful contributions to the country’s ongoing Renewal process. He described question time as democratic, frank, accountable and constructive.
He acknowledged improvements in organizing the session to promote the collective wisdom and high sense of responsibility of relevant agencies. He said NA resolutions further clarify the tasks, solutions and responsibilities of relevant agencies which will enable them carry out the tasks entrusted to their management more effectively.
He asked the NA Standing Committee, government, Supreme People’s Court, Supreme People’s Procuracy and sectors to devise appropriate action plans to realise the approved bills and resolutions.
