Over the past four years, the NA adopted 68 laws, 12 resolutions and 13 ordinances.

The law making process continued to be renewed in both quantity and quality which helps institutionalize the Party’s guidelines and increase the State’s operational efficiency.

Remarkable progress was made in NA supervisory activities while NA decisions on important national issues related to socio-economic development and the State budget were of better quality and met the practical needs of national interests in line with people’s expectations.

External activities achieved positive results and contributed significantly to raising the country’s status in the international arena.

The NA’s organisational structure has improved remarkably and indicates democracy, creativity and close coordination with relevant agencies.

The legislative body improved its activities which contributed considerably to building a socialist law-governed State of the people, by the people and for the people under the leadership of the Party.

NA sessions became a real political event, capturing the attention of voters as well as people throughout the country. Its renewed operations raised public awareness of a socialist democracy and helped promote relations between the people, the Party and the State and the image of a dynamic and democratic socialist political system, said Mr Trong.

The report also made some proposals for future orientations, tasks and organisation of the NA in order to raise quality of its activities.

Attention should be focused on improving legislative operations, increasing responsibility for deciding important national issues, raising the efficiency of supervision and operations of the NA Standing Committee, and enhancing the role of the NA Ethnicity Council and other NA committees.
