The National Assembly Chairman, Nguyen Sinh Hung, has asked Dak Lak Province to work together with other Central Highland localities to make the region is a more attractive destination for domestic and foreign investors.

The NA Chairman Hung made the request on October 15 at his working session with Dak Lak authorities to assess the effectiveness of the Party and State’s policies for ethnic minorities, as well as prepare for the upcoming second session of the 13th NA.

The NA leader also asked Dak Lak to look into developing better planning and policy strategies to help transform the Central Highlands into one of the country’s strongest economic zones, ensuring more solid regional defense and security.

Hung said future NA sessions will focus on socioeconomic issues relating to policies to improve living conditions for the Central Highland’s often vulnerable ethnic people.

The NA leader said he will ask NA agencies to consider a resolution on policies for ethnic minority aiming to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor, increase the quality of human resources, and tap into the region’s immense potential.

Secretary of the Dak Lak Provincial Party’s Committee, Nie Thuat, told the NA leader that the province had only two districts with a poverty rate of more than 25 percent by the end of 2010 under the standard set for the 2006-2010 period.

On the same day, Hung met with voters in Dung A and Dung B villages in Ea Khal commune, E A H’Leo district.
