National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong made the suggestion at a reception in Hanoi on June 7 for the Vice Chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Wang Zhizhen, who has been in Vietnam to attend the 19th World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia.
Mr. Trong applauded Wang’s visit to Vietnam, saying that it reflects China’s attention to regional cooperation and development, and contributes to the success of the WEF.
Mr. Trong said he believes that, on the basis of their traditional friendship and cooperation, the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China will be strengthened and developed for the sake of both peoples and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world as well.
Mrs. Wang expressed delight at paying her first visit to Vietnam this year as the country is celebrating major events, including the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi, the 120th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, the 60th anniversary of Vietnam-China diplomatic ties and Vietnam’s holding of ASEAN Chair.
The Chinese official also agreed that China and Vietnam need to strengthen their friendship and comprehensive cooperation.
Also on June 7, Wang was received by President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Huynh Dam, who expressed his wish that the VFF and CPPCC would beef up their cooperative ties, thus helping to elevate the Vietnam-China relationship to a new height.
Mrs. Wang said the two sides should increase exchanges, especially between the youths, and the sharing of experiences in the years to come.
